Camera Obscura
A camera obscure is a darkened box with a lens or aperture for the image of an external object on to a screen inside, a forerunner of the modern camera. With a camera obscura, you can perfectly capture the world around you by projecting what's on the outside down into a darkened space on the inside. And you don't need a power source. This is kind of like magic from how useful it is. In the olden days, people would use this method as a way of portraying things happening in their daily lives. It's honestly super impressive how there is no electricity or digital stuff involved.

The materials I used to make this was a Cadbury Container, Black paint, some tinfoil and duck tape.
Me and my friends were helping eachother out in this historic event.
I think what went well for me is that my pinhole camera works; it also matches my aesthetic and looks super scrumptious.
I am looking forward to be doing some experiements with my beautiful pinhole camera. I will record my information on here and tell you all about it.

Abelardo Morrell -
Out of all the artworks, this one really catches my eye. The colourful, vibrant scenery makes the image look super futuristic. Amazing camera quality, and a beautiful selection of a colour scheme. This is the London i've always dreamed of, super royal and modern. Abelardo Morrel made it possible for many people to see this side of London instead of just boring gray box houses with litter all over this streets.
Justin Quinnell -
Justin Quinnell is considered a world wide expert at pinhole photography. He has been teaching this art technique for over 28 years with a huge passion of helping others. His interesting works include taking unusual pictures with a super zoomed in camera, taking photos of things like humans, scenery and many random things. He recently worked as a pinhole consultant for the movie 'The Brothers Bloom' also featuring his cameras in the film.
The photos look like they've been taken outside in a vibrant place, outside in the bright golden sun. |

My Evaluation -
My first impression of this image is that theres nothing to really see apart from the cracks. My analysation is that the canvas is mostly filled with the colour white. Then a tiny bit of grey from the lines. To me, I find this image very boring aswell as modern. There's nothing to really describe this, just some cracks in the canvas and a super good camera quality. |
Paper Cutting -
My Evaluation -
This image looks like it has something to do with paper (obviously). They're cut up with scissors and layered to look like a magical flower. This technique reminds me of origami; the art of folding papers into diverse shapes, although it's not exactly like it, the art just comes to my head.
This photo looks pretty recent due to the camera quality being nice and clear. I can see all the details like the shadows on the thin white paper and every crease within the decoration. The title and image is legitimate, the title explains to us that this gallery is about 'paper cutting' with the images being shown displaying cut up paper.

My Evaluation -
My first impression on this image is that the detail is super diverse. It looks super unique and vintage, it's something I never see anywhere. I think the style is like royal because it portrays to us the bold and confident imagery of 3d shapes and it's powerful shading. To me, I get reminded of a medieval/haunted house whenever I see this. I feel like the artist is all about paper-cutting; however this image looks very animated for that which is what I find very compelling. The fact that there is no technology or social media involved with this piece is what makes it better. |
Paper Experiment -
My Experiment -
My first impression of this image is that there is a variety of colours, different textures and unique angles.
I think the style is similar to being something like funky and fun. It stands out because of the colour choice.
I think this photograph includes a lot of light and colours.
It displays a piece of paper that was scrunched up and revealed to a selection of colourful lights.
This shows us how we can be creative with our photographs with only a cut out of paper.

30 Image Evaluation -
These images look super animated, I can imagine what happens next because of how aesthetically pleasing it looks. From quiet aeroplane window shots with sapphire and fuchsia lighting to loud melodic bullets zooming past with aureate colour shining amongst the scenery of melancholy. The 30 figurines help me to imagine that the person taking these satisfactionary pieces must travel a lot and eat very well. I found examples of light by going to different areas, these consist of neon and natural lights. I really enjoyed taking the pictures because it shows me very nice memories of things I did in the past, in 20 years time I could appreciate what I have done. However, I think one thing I would improve on is maybe taking photos with a lot more scenery in it.

This light painting tutorial taught me many things I did not know about. He demonstrates how to light paint perfectly, this can help begginers become experts in just 5 minutes.

Light Painting -
Evaluation -
This light painting session taught me a lot of interesting and unique things I have never knew. There would be a beautiful camera set up infront of us ready to capture the art of dancing around with a 'light saber'. With these different colour variations, you can make amazing pieces or patterns of your own. I personally really enjoyed this and I think it can be beneficial in many different ways. I think one thing I would improve on however is making sure I created patterns that 'made sense' because I was just swinging the bright torch around like I was in a sword fight. It was my first time using it though but in the nearby future I would use this gentle criticism to help me next time whenever I do light painting again.
Harry Gruyaert
My Evaluation -
One of the reason why I chose to evaluate this image is because of the diverse scenery. Many things occurring in the frame at once is what makes it very captivating. From alert-astute lights to a peaceful and quiet imagery. In my opinion, everything looks very set up nicely together. You do not really find images like this so the artist is pretty much a rare find. All of his artworks are different from the others which catches my eye, flamboyant landscapes, not too clamped, not too quiet; it's very consummate and matches my aesthetic.

Kiripi Katembo -
My Evaluation -
In my opinion, this image really stuck out to me out of all these beautiful options. The colour choice is very distinctive. No one really works with neon colours because a lot of people think that they are an eye-sore; however, Kiripi made it look very pretty. The artistic style I am getting from this is a toxic theme. It reminds me kind of sour candy because thats how I imagine it. The shadows in the frame make everything more unique, the details like the texture on the floor and the faded shading really show the images purpose.

Amaal Said
My Evaluation -
The diversity of colours really caught my attention. I like the different patterns, sparkles and shades. Amaal uses photography to put more representation for other ethnic groups who do not get recognised of, this is what I appreciate. She takes beautiful shots to show the world things we don't see. I think her pictures mostly focus around traditional and colourful scenery, thus most of her work being related to that.

My 3D Sculpture -
3D Sculpture Evaluation -
In this task, we had to create 3D sculptures to later photograph and put in our mini websites. The sculpture itself to me was actually pretty challenging. I had to transport one of my images that I photographed previously and transport it on a sturdy piece of cardboard. After that I had to cut it out into HUGE shapes..which I kind of misunderstood because I started cutting out flower patterns; I threw them away and started creating what would actually go on my sculpture. I made sure the shapes were very funky and slender so that when I combine them all together, it would create something that even my imagination couldn't really expand on. The outcome to me kind of looks like a mountain of blazing hot fire, just with the wrong colours contrasting all together which to me is unique. I wanted to make sure I was being very inclusive so I tried to display various shadow techniques within my creations. I tried to also do that with the camera angles, but to be honest, I struggled with that and had blurry ideas about it. This is what I ended up with and I don't know how to feel about, I guess it's okay.

30 image response - Harry Gruyaet
My 30 image Evaluation -
The artist I tried to replicate is called Harry Gruyaet. He portrays bright colours on his work, as well as different types of gradients and shades. His work mainly stuck out to me because it is more appealing to my eyes than the others, in a nice way! The aura I get from his work is a retro kind of vibe. Everything just clashes together well and makes sense. All the colours contrast together, eg: yellow and red, green and blue.
So for inspiration of his work, I decided to go with a theme of bright-lighted colours; I used my pink fairy lights to assist me with this mission. I went to different areas in my house where the opposed hues all did some big collaboration. I started with my kitchen where I cherrypicked these fruits that had the same theme going on. Oranges and Lemons are not the same fruit, however they have a similar colour combination so I just went with that. I then tried to make sure everything was angled perfectly with the astonishing light blinding me and my photo. I think the result of that photo turned out pretty okay. I would not call it perfect because there's flaws in everything!!
After that, I went to my room where the bright pink fairy lights were discovered, by me. I went to different types of objects from perfumes to plushies to clothing textures and I guess drawings too. I made sure to angle my camera perfectly, making sure the blushed lighting would consume the whole frame. Then, this is the result I got. It kind of reminds me of a nightclub with the outcome photos. Glittering lights dancing around everywhere, it seems really fun.
I found this task pretty difficult however. I was struggling for ideas because the artist himself is pretty challenging to replicate, mostly because you're supposed to be outside and take photographs of blazing beams but on this day I had to stay at home and persuade myself to create some satisfactory replicates of Harry Gruyaet's frames. So thats what I did. Most of his artworks consist of going outside and being exposed to mother nature, since I'm not really allowed to go out, I tried to recreate his artworks but an 'at home version'. To me I might consider retaking this if I could, since all the colours are kind of the same but I would definitely try and experiment outside more. I made these photographs I guess in the span of 2 hours but in the end I would say it's pretty worth it.

Photogram Experiment-
'My Evaluation -
I am preparing for my negative photogram that I will embed into my website soon. For this: I had to go outside and pick a selection of things I wanted. I chose to work with flowers since they have many variations and are one of natures favourites, also mine aswell!! I went downstairs behind block one; there was a lot of greenery everywhere which made it easier for me. I picked up various species of flora including minuscule lilac, lily's, daisy's and coreopis. I took them with me to make a photogram but unfortunately they all died. I have an idea of layering new flowers on top for some theme but I have to get them first.

Final Project -
For my final project, I have decided to make a flower piece with luminary paper. Since the project is all about light, this is good for me; flowers are all about nature and luminosity. All I need to do is bring colourful flowers from my garden and piece them together. I have many selections and hues like pink, purple and white. If I piece it together on Thursday I can finish my project.
